  • About the Artist
Dipo Andy was born in Sumbawa Indonesia. He finished his fine art education at the Faculty of Art and Design, Indonesian Art Institute, Yogyakarta, 1999.

Dipo is known as artists who explore many mediums and depths creating artworks. In the early period of its emergence in the early 2000s he focused on Pop Art style, using visual representational re-articulating the artwork language. But in recent years Dipo switches to non-representational, abstract painting. Strong characteristic on the visual work of Dipo is a color selection that is always straight forward and interesting.

Today Dipo returns to a conventional medium, non-representational painting, he wants to go back to artworks of dual dimensional.

  • Artist Style
Dipo is often seen exploring various mediums and doing medium mixing experiments that are far from the ordinary, that may be opposite in terms of character and nature of the medium itself. He is trying to crash into the notion of a conventional medium into a novelty. A good example is the KundaliniBumi series on display at Salihara Gallery Jakarta, Dipo used resin, Lapindo mud, acrylic on canvas digital printing.
Dipo also once wanted to find a certain effect with using oil paint that is still wet overwritten with resin on the stainless steel.
